Functioning Among Humans

In the development world, most people are striving for technical excellence: better code, faster run times... But is that really what helps us create better software? In the end we are creating products together. To do that communication and collaboration are essential. You can be the best programmer ever, but if you can cannot work well with others what good does it do you?

This talk will introduce you to relevant, easy to grasp concepts of collaboration and communication as well as give you food for further thought.

OBJECTIVES

  • understanding that "soft" skills > "hard" skills
  • know things to quickly apply in the work space like more empathy for others, what drives motivation, changing communication patterns & giving feedback
  • get an interest in some of the mentioned topics to maybe look them up more

AUDIENCE

Every person working in or close to tech. Most specifically devs though, while also useful for leads/managers the focus is on skills, on concepts relevant to your average/normal dev :)
